Well it was almost Christmas and we finally got "Bugly" home from Larry and Michele Woods' home.
First, Dan did a great job on strenghtening the frame, made many structural supports, new roll cages, motor cage, etc. Then Larry, with the help of Jerry (and Michele too), did the finishing work on the body of "Bugly" (see previous pages on beginning stages of bodywork). Below you will see the hood that Larry had to actually cut in half and take about 2" off both sides and fit back together. It looks great.
Then, after the painting process, Dave, my husband, put the transmission and motor in the VW Bug. We had many parts of "Bugly" powdercoated a silver-black color called "black chrome." The powercoating is being done by Dave's friend, Greg Pauley who owns his own business called "Wolfhead Powdercoating."
"Bugly" will have a 140 horse-powered Corvair engine (like our rail "Time Bomb") and will have a VW Bus transmission (like our rail). Currently, "Bugly's" transmission is being borrowed by our rail ('cause we blew "Time Bomb's" a few months back, now you know how it got its name, ha). But how that happened is a differently story entirely. So, back to "Bugly"...below are a few pictures of our: "Bugly's" Continued Progress...

Well we aren't done with it yet, now comes all the work Dave has to do to complete Bugly like wiring, rebuilding the motor, transmission, etc. He has his worked cut out for him. Our goal is to show it at the next Swap Meet in Lansing, MI next March. Stay tuned for continued updates and thanks for stopping by. Visit some of our other pages including our rail "Time Bomb."
