Building a fast, family

sand rail!

First, decide what your buggy/rail will be used for: to play in the sand, to race, to go off-road, to be a jumper, a 2-seater or a 4-seater? Then, budget for your dream buggy and come up with a plan.

Ours took about four years to complete from start to finish and we wanted a fast, sharp-looking, family 4-seater. You could say we wanted it all and got it!

Finally, our dream was reality and it was definitely: "Worth The Wait."

(Front) Custom Double A-Arm

Streamlined Chrome-moly Tubing, lower arm ball joint, Koni Coil-Over Mini adjustable Shocks, 8" of travel, Stilletto Steering

(Rear) IRS 4-Link-Indy style rear suspension, bearing carriers by Stu Spears (Chassis Shop, Mears MI)

CNC Disc Brakes, Porche 930 CV Joints, Sway-Away Axles, flanges Dura Blue, stub axles Dura Blue, 10" of travel, suspension by Garth Whitehill (Whitehill Frame & Fabricating, Hart MI) now XTC Motorsports (D. Thayer - owner)

ENGINE

Corvair, 2700 CC (approx. 400 H.P.)

Crank -- stock balanced, rods -- stock lightened and balanced, shot peaned, pistons forged

Cam --Otto Parts reverse rotation
